Escambia County Hires McDonald Fleming Moorhead to Investigate Explosion
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on April 30th, 2014, an explosion ripped through the Central Booking and Detention Facility in Pensacola, Florida, killing two inmates, seriously injuring corrections officers and inmates, and destroying the building.
Escambia County hired the McDonald Fleming Moorhead firm to investigate the circumstances surrounding that explosion. The full report on that investigation has been released to the public, and may be accessed below.
The investigation was directed by Ed Fleming. Mr. Fleming’s qualifications for doing this work included spending eight years as an investigative reporter before going to law school, as well as his involvement with investigating fatalities on construction sites, and conducting an investigation that resulted in the termination of the Master Developer of the Community Maritime Park who obtained a multi-million dollar contract by making false representations concerning its qualifications.
