Smith
In addition to being a
partner in the law firm of McDonald Fleming
Moorhead, J. D. Smith
retired as a colonel in the United States Air Force
Reserves.
Upon graduation from the United States Air Force
Academy in 1977, J. D. spent six years in active
duty service flying the B-52 bomber. He is a veteran
of Operations Desert Storm, Uphold Democracy and
Joint Endeavor. In September 2001, he was mobilized
for Operation Enduring Freedom, and commanded
special operations aircraft flying combat missions
into Afghanistan. From September 2002 to January
2003, he commanded the 321st Air Expeditionary Wing
at Masirah Island, Oman. Prior to entering law
school, J. D. earned his M.B.A. from Louisiana Tech
University and worked for General Electric and W.R.
Grace in marketing, manufacturing and finance.
In 1990, J. D. received his Juris Doctorate from the
University of Florida college of Law and began active trial practice in
Pensacola. His primary areas of practice are construction, business, and
commercial law.
