Michael
L. Ferguson
Brigadier General Michael L. Ferguson, U.S. Army
Retired, is an of counsel partner of the firm
McDonald Fleming Moorhead. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, College
of Law. He earned a bachelor's degree in Military
Science from the United States Military Academy, a
master's degree in International Relations from American
University, and a master's degree in Business Management
from Central Michigan University. His practice focuses
on U.S. and International Business Law, Commercial
Litigation, Bankruptcy, Intellectual Property and Sports
Law. Mr. Ferguson has been instrumental in the formation
of the af2 Arena Football League and has been a
certified NFL agent, a legal consultant for the af2
League, and designated counsel for numerous professional
sports teams. He was recognized by the Florida Senate in
1998 as an Outstanding Citizen; a Beta Gamma Sigma
Honoree in 1999; selected for the Pensacola High School
Hall of Fame in 2000, and a Paul Harris Fellow in 2005.
He preceded his practice of law with a distinguished
career in the U.S. Army including tours in Germany,
Vietnam, Korea and Japan where he served as Deputy
Commanding General. He has received over 30 awards and
decorations to include the Purple Heart and
Distinguished Service Medal. He has earned an AV®
rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating
possible given by his peers in the Pensacola area.
Mr. Ferguson now also serves as Civilian Aide to the
Secretary of the Army for Florida, is a Trustee of the
Levin College of Law at the University of Florida and is
active in community affairs and numerous organizations
which include: Chairman of the College of Business
Advisory Council, University of West Florida, where he
is also an adjunct professor; membership in the
University of West Florida Military Policy Community
Council, Downtown Pensacola Rotary, American Legion,
Veterans of Foreign Wars, U.S. Army Ranger Association,
Military Officers Association of America and Gideons. He
is married to Jane and has three children and three
grandchildren.

Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army Mike
Ferguson led a delegation of Civilian Aides at
Arlington National Cemetery on 23 March 2010 to lay
a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns. The event was
particularly significant for Ferguson as his own
Father, PFC Lloyd G. Ferguson of Pensacola, Florida,
was Killed in Action during the 8th Infantry
Division’s march on the Cologne- Aachen area in WWII
and is buried in the National Cemetery at Henri St.
Chapelle, Belgium. Ferguson also presented his Coin
to the Sergeant of the Guard for the effort and
service of the Old Guard soldiers in protecting and
guarding this historical monument to our Nation’s
heroes.
